A Sony Computer Entertainment Representative has stated in an interview with Enter The Rift at Gamescom 2014. He Said:
“Our primary focus is on PS4,” the rep replied when asked about possible PC support for the hardware. “We want to make sure that VR is on PS4 is the best experience and the reason that is is because the hardware is the same, everyone gets exactly the same hardware. So the software performs exactly the same. You when you try a VR experience and then you try it at your house, it’s the same. The performance of the games is the same. We think that’s very important for VR because there’s a lot of factors that can ruin your user experience if the game is not running correctly.”
Yesterday, Oculus VR figureheads Palmer Luckery and Nate Mitchell, had shared some of their concerns about Project Morpheus being limited to PS4 hardware. You can read more about that here: VRfocus.
However SCE doesn't see the problem with it, Project Morpheus currently has similar features to the Oculus Rift second development kit (DK2) with positional tracking and a beautiful 1080p display, and a LCD one as opposed to the Oculus VR's OLED one. Of course, the hardware of each platform is an entirely different matter.
We are still unsure when Project Morpheus will officially launch or what its official name will possibly be "PlayStation Morpheus" seems like a good bet possibly. I for one cannot wait for Project Morpheus to release to the public when its ready, I think in my opinion it has so much more going for it then the Oculus Rift right now does. Of course that is just my opinion, but please tell me what you guys think.
